Are you at the lowest point of your life? Demotivated & burdened – unable to move forward?
If yes, this post is for you! The reason for writing the post is not to sell a product – but to share learnings and experiences which may help in emotionally pressing times.
With the rise of social media and the digital era, we have lost real and meaningful connections – this reality strikes when we end up in a situation where we cannot find ‘ONE person’ to ‘TALK TO’, even though we have hundreds of friends on social media. Unfortunately, we are part of the same chain, we only notice when it strikes us!
While your situation is unique and different from anything I can relate to – but, I want you to pause here for a moment. Clear your head, leave all your issues and problems for 5 minutes, and ask yourself..
How is your relationship with Allah? Pls pause and think for a bit.
Allah SWT is the creator, your creator, He owns and maintains everything – I know, that you know it, but how often do we internalize this? And is this our driving force during our life span? The answer, unfortunately, for most of us is a big no – and that’s where things have started to shake up, bit by bit, to this day where there is a desperate need.
Before fixing things, or even embarking on the journey gather the headspace – there are things you should internalize. It’s time to restore the core – you need to know what Allah SWT holds for its creations even when they are lost in their tracks.
- Allah has created every being with a purpose – Yes, that goes for you too.
- Allah doesn’t burden or test anyone beyond the limits – so whatever you are going through, even if it seems like a dead end, it’s not. (Must read Quran’s Surah Baqarah – last 2 verses)
- Allah loves you – irrespective of what shape or mess you are in. This is real!
- Allah is close, more than you can imagine. (Must read Quran, Surah Baqarah – verse 186)
- Allah knows your hardship and FORTUNATELY shared a plan, a way forward. (Must read Quran, Surah Taghabun – verse 11)
- Allah will forgive you! No matter what the past is! As long as you commit to moving forward. (Must read Quran, Surah Zumar – verse 53)
- Allah holds the entirety of knowledge and wisdom – you don’t know what the future holds but Allah does, it’s time to bridge the gap.
And, if you think for a moment, you would realize that Allah is supreme and is in no need of us at all. Allah could have simply left us, on our own – yet, Allah choose to put forward everything for our benefit, provides for us, maintains us, and has kept the door to forgiveness and assistance wide open!
From my experience – what I can share with you is that when someone is tested and shaken to the core and pushed to the lowest. It’s usually, mostly, or better if I say for everyone – an opportunity in hindsight to reshape and emerge stronger and better. It is to train, so one can reach its true potential! And do you know who succeeds? One that keeps moving forward, puts patience into the process even when it’s hardest, and resets the core and relationship with Allah!
Since you are the second best judge of your situation, after Allah, and only you know what you are going through. It may be the loss of a loved one, losses or financial crunch, anxiety, and depression, being used or cheated by people, or even guilt for being the wrongdoer – there is light, and things can change, and you can be in far better shape than you ever have been or have thought, only if you commit to taking the next steps.
- Hazrat Yousuf AS was thrown in the well, and sold as a slave – He ended up becoming the king of Egypt.
- Hazrat Younus AS was stuck in the belly of the fish – He was saved and His people were saved from the mass destruction
- Our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH absorbed extreme situations. Extreme anxiety during His time in the Mountain of Hira, until the words of Allah, the Quran, become the light of His heart.
But we are not such special beings, right? Yes, but we all get to learn from the situations and no soul goes astray that has put trust in Allah! Know this.
Where to start? There is no magic trick and it’s very simple – this point, when you decide, sit up, and put forward your affairs in front of Allah. Dua is the best form of worship and it is the most impactful tool to change destiny. Do it now, repeat, it’s between you and Allah and there should be no shame in going back to Allah every day or even every hour – for the same thing.
For a lot of us, when we try and become impatient with Dua – remember, even Dua is heard until we trust Allah’s timing knowing He holds all knowledge and wisdom and doesn’t fall trap of the idea “that my supplications are not being heard”.
For a lot of us, we end up in a situation where we are confused, lost, and in a repeating loop – seeking forgiveness for the past (it’s when we are hit with apparent outcomes of our deeds). We end up in sorrow, misery, and depression – remember, Allah, forgives! And you should know and have faith that you have been forgiven for as long as you have sought forgiveness. But you have hurt people? Read Hazrat Musa AS’s incident of why he had to rush out of the Pharoh’s city – the incident, His supplication during that incident, and Allah’s response to it – you will be amazed.
It’s time to take charge, and make up your mind – remember, you may lose motivation the next day, but keep charging yourself and begin with Allah, start to know Allah better, read, listen, and start to learn Quran. But this will be slow? Yes, Allah takes 10 steps forward towards you for one you take and Allah will help for as long as you ask – we all want instant fixes to our problems, but we will have to trust Allah, which includes His timing too. Always remember, Allah knows what the hidden positive in your current situation is that you may see after years or find in the next life.
Give yourself a start with the following things and you will see your life will start to shape gradually:
- Ensure 5 daily prayers! That’s a must! Remember to ask Allah to help you achieve the best level in your prayers. Don’t feel like praying? Let me share with you a dialogue that struck me. A man asked some Allah’s fellow and he responded saying I don’t know if my prayer will gain the same level in Allah’s eyes – because I enjoy praying, and so I do, and, you pray even when you don’t feel like it. Start, keep at it, and soon you will see it starts to shape you more than you shape your prayers!
- Start making Dua – find that alone time that strikes the imbalance in you or any time where you can isolate yourself, connect with Allah, and learn ways to call Allah beautifully. The day you learn to talk with Allah will be the day you will have earned the biggest tool for success in your life! It’s gradual – remember, it’s precious and can only come when we commit, continue and prove to be worth it.
- Start your day with gratitude! And there are a lot of things! You reading this post, is enough to calculate tons. Most problems hurt less when we restructure our mindset around them.
- Focus on the physical self – yes, even when you are mentally or emotionally low. Gather yourself and make yourself physically active and put care. This slows and reverses your stress!
- Cut music out! Music imbalances your emotional state more than you know. Replace it with Quran recitation, this will do wonders!
- Cut self-destructive habits! Find, mitigate, or replace your habits.
- Listen to Quran, read it, and start understanding – even if it’s just one verse a day.
Most importantly, remember, this time will pass. But, your entire journey through this will be a success only and only if you move on to good times with the connection you build with Allah in your bad times. Make sure to keep it with you, forever.
InshAllah, Allah’s help is near just as Allah is near!
Why did I write this post? I want to share a few learnings & experiences that can help someone, anyone, who is struggling right at this very moment and they can’t find extending a helpful hand. I want to extend that hand here.
